Background and Summary:

Dr. Katina Otey, Chief Academic Officer, and Dr. Jill Dahl, Program Administrator for Lugo-McGinness, will introduce Lugo-McGinness students who will present information on Innovation Research.
In 2021, Dr. Jill Dahl and Ms. Carly Dirghangi at Lugo-McGinness Academy secured a $42,850 innovation planning grant. The goal for these funds is to center historically marginalized students’ voices and perspectives in shaping culturally relevant curriculum, creating student-driven research projects, and developing entrepreneurial pathways. This work will be supported by partnerships with groups such as UVA’s Youth Participatory Action Lab, the Uhuru Foundation, and the Mastery Transcript Consortium. |
