Background and Summary:
|
At the March 2, 2023 meeting, the school board voted to approve the proposed Collective Bargaining Resolution and to allow Dr. Gurley the authority to reconvene the collective bargaining committee to discuss section 4(A)(2) regarding authorization cards, and Section 7(B)(4) representation of the bargaining unit. Ms. Torres and Ms. Dooley, shared the following feedback: Section 4(A)(2): regarding authorization cards, and: The school board is amenable to allowing a third party to review the cards in lieu of the superintendent, as you requested. Section 7(B)(4) representation of the bargaining unit: Our members acknowledge and recall VEA/CEA’s preference and conversation about this but after conferring with the entire Board regarding this specific item — it was/is the will of the Board to leave this item as it is within the adopted resolution. Attached for approval is a copy of the revised Collective Bargaining Agreement with revision to Section 4(A)(2) to require that any verification of bargaining unit majority support for a union be performed by a neutral third party.
